There is something interesting in the way people become what is commonly known as "a star".
lately we are using the term icon more then the "term" stars.
In the case of Michael Jackson we can see that like actual stars in the sky, we may see a shining star that may have been collapsed years ago, only his light reaches us unaware that he had seized to exist years ago.

out of fashion, any how i think the children absorb alot
of this symbols and they fade in some point in life.
mine faded while in army, not all of us are "lucky" enough
to be in the army, so io invite to respond this post and say exactly
when you started to see the soldier symbol from above, from a

In a perfect world I would post more of my photos, since time is in a shortage I turn to others (maybe because of the guilt i had staring at their sites).
Jason's work is typology (actually the nirvana project made me put him up on the blog).
The texts engages the work, and in some way activates the image.
You shouldn't miss the nirvana project, it's the best description of "what is music" that i saw in a long time, not technically but it gives us the essence of what it is for us, reminds me a nice movie I saw.

Love grady's use of the flash, it reminds me that for some time I thought that nothing but natural light should make a picture.
I changed my mind obviously. as a photographer i am used seeing the picture composing it in my head in advance and make a picture when the composition looks good.
There is some convenience using only natural or available light, but working with flash you are more close to a painter, you have to imagine how the beam of light will bounce of all the elements in the frame (of course digital camera make trial and error cause less pocket pain)

There are few people that can engage their subjects like she does, delicate sensitive and very very attuned, the amazing use of light or should I say attention to light is just a bonus.

Note about photojournalism: yes it is problematic judging photojournalism the same way you judge art photography, these are real people and real stories that the photographs are dealing with.
lets say it's in the gap between, some kind of poetic documentation.

This is one of those things you stumble upon while looking in a site that you liked and then being curious about the links thinking, well good guys hang around together arent they?

What you are looking at is a line produced by a GPS traking device on a dog walking in various places and by disconnecting the enviourment and foucusing on the movment, the
GO say it alot better:

"The Canine Tracking Project uses GPS drawing as a means of questioning and understanding the environment that we inhabit with an altered set of priorities. GPS tracking allows us to follow the movement of a dog through the landscape. Movement, direction, speed, and tempo are recorded via satellite and the GPS unit. This altered perspective of the land, or environment, offers an abstract perspective to a cross-section of our current moment in time and our environment's current condition."

The geographic observatory are truly Geo-Graphic, visualizing environment and Eco issues using art and info graphics that makes that brick in my head move a bit, looking for its right place since it moved by this visuals.

Bryan Graf is a New Jersey based photographer, his images have this painting quality in them, and interesting aesthetics, even if it utilizes low quality camera (see in the work "Interstate").
For me the the painting quality in a picture lies in taking care of every detail and not leaving it alone, just like a painter won't choose a color for now reason a photographer doesn't leave anything in the frame for chance.

While in Bariloche I met this young sweet kids, they where giving away hand made bracelets and all sort of rocks they decorated, or found.
For all I know it's not some tradition, and some how this gesture caught my attention, I guess I found something in me that reflected in their gesturethat was very simple and true for me,
they were just out of their house which is far from the center of the city ( not that Bariloche is a large city) giving hand made
braclets and stones, talking with them in spanish that i learned on the trip allso added to this feeling of another world.

  We take it every where and it gives us the ability of making pictures anywhere, of course that was also true to the film camera era but now you take it literally every where.  We used to take up a camera upon some sort of special event, graduation, birthday, wedding, accidents etc... now one has his phone+camera every day.  A friend showed me a sunset picture he made with his phone while at work, he is not a photographer or in the hobby and probably this occasion wouldn't get it's "photographic state" if it hadn't been for his camera phone.  This makes this documenting format interesting to me, people make pictures (with all sorts of pic quality) of their environment , of things they wouldn't pick up a camera for few years ago.  This causes people to constantly define (knowingly or not) their connection to their environment with their photographs.
The camera depicts mechanically and precisely, people usually make picture upon their impression of things and this impression will inevitably change, not so for the picture, sooner or later people are going to notice details  that escaped their sight/consciousness each discovery like this will teach them how to see differently.

יש בעבודות שלו המון מיניות עם רמיזות חכמות חכמות שקצת מזכירות את העבודות של אנטוני קורביין
(הבמאי בהרבה מן הקליפים של דפש מוד) מעין סטייל שנות השמונים שכזה במובן הטוב של המילה
סוג של קור וריקבון כזה, אני לא ממש בטוח בהגרדרה אבל זה נשמע לי הגיוני.

Lately photography is dealing with how we see (literally), since a camera is (in our perception) depicting reality, photography
can deal with how we see things by creating images that we know some percent of it came from our reality (do I make any sense?)
Adrien Missika's also deals with the subject, i really liked his Postcards in which he manages to give an interesting view to the
post card format.

A Work that deals with the current situation

The challenges the stand infront of you when you are a graphic designer or an artist are some times not clear.
In this case it is clear that Gilad Shalit is being repeatedly shown to us on the news and on the billboards and signs all around Israel, and with the need to raise the awareness
there is a big threat that we loose our sensitivity to the subject we are dealing in.
Eyal Baumert is a friend from school and his work I think manages to deal with this issue and also reminding us what stands behind it.

Chris Marker / La Jetee (28min)

After seeing La Jetee it is impossible to be untouched by the atmosphere that is created in this short film by Chris marker.
Chris manages to create a futuristic feel in La jetee in a very cleaver way.
Films that we are used to with plot that happens in the future usually evolve allot of special effects, in this short film Chris does it with a minimum number of affects and photo montages. This representation of the future by Chris is interesting because it make us deal more in the plot and the characters themselves rather then how did someone made a spaceship shoot laser that looks so real.
since when real is a value in art?

I used to carry a sketch book here and there, and in it I pour in in it wondering thought's whenever it came around.

Corvi Mora Gallery's site is not impressive at all, what's impressive in it is it's collection of artists
in various fields of art, that really caught my eye (that are connected to my
brain/mind), certainly the drawing and painting medium is not dead and that goes also to the
sculpture medium.
Recommended are Imran Qureshi with her gentle graphic drawings with allot of micro
gestures in it, and there is Richard Aldrich with his minimal and smart painting (if you put one line on a
canvas, better be smart and not a smart ass), and Jason Meadows with his simple yet really well
composed sculptures, well I think my taste is better then me writing so have a look

because these pictures were generated by digital camera (like most cameras today) there is a chance to make allot of photos and then choose from a large variety, this causes

the time between them to be either very short (one diner 500 pics for example) or very long since the capacity of a memory card is forever increasing. these pictures were on my
